Principal's Graduation Speech 2018

Class of 2018

Today marks the end of an era for all of you sitting here. Graduation, end of compulsory school and your last days at IESJ. But as you say farewell to the well known, your friends and teachers and close the door on your highschool years you also open the door to the future. A future that we know nothing about, yet.

At IESJ you have had the opportunity to learn and grow, to fail, try again and fail again and to constantly strive to learn more, be more, know more.

We will celebrated some of your results today but there is so much more to all of you then what can be shown here. You are 124 unique individuals, all with your own unique academic and social talents.

I have borrowed a quote from Steve Jobs that I feel really summarizes my hopes and dreams for you. In his commencement speech at Stanford university 2005 he said:

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”

I hope your years at IESJ, with the help of outstanding teachers and staff, have given you just that, the courage to follow your own heart and mind.

After having spent the last two years with you, and especially after our trip to Poland, I feel confident that our future has never looked as bright. You are curious, you are kind, you are brave and you are ready to take on the world and all that it has to offer.

Class of 2018 i wish you all the best for the future.

Happy 15th Birthday IESJ

Happy Birthday to all of us at Internationella Engelska Skolan Järfälla!

Yesterday Internationella Engelska Skolan Järfälla celebrated its 15th anniversary out on the school yard. We mingled, got a surprise visit from the ice-cream truck and took group pictures of us all to hang on our "wall of fame".

Our school has grown into a well known, respected and cherished establishment in Järfälla and we are proud of what we have accomplished in the 15 years we have been here. Over 1600 students have graduated from IESJ and we are so grateful for all the support we have received from their families and the community throughout the years.

We are now planning for, and looking forward to, the next 15 years. Our promise to the community stays the same; we will provide a calm and safe environment where teachers teach and students learn, set high academic standards and give our students command of the English language.

Towards the future,

/Mrs Viljosson, Principal

Rebuild of school playground

Preparations are now on the way for the rebuild of our school playground.

The municipality has contractors on the way and we hope the project will start this fall.

When the rebuild is finished we will have a brand new playground with a parcour court, trampolines and swings.

Busy season

So much is going on at the school right now and the entire building is just buzzing with activity. Our yr 5’s have caterpillars waiting to transform into butterflies, Yr 6 (and 9) are writing their national tests, Yr 7 have started final preparations for their upcoming trip to Åland, Yr 8 plan and cook “Master Chef” meals for us to enjoy and Yr 9 make the most of their last few months here at our school.

This time of the year is also the time when we see a lot of extracurricular activities taking place, like the PTA gala, Spirit Days, IESJ World Cup to name but a few. It is extra important in this busy season to remember to not only work hard but also to take time to celebrate our growth and success.

As always it is a privilege to be principal of this outstanding school and I look forward to celebrating each student’s growth and development at the end of this academic year.

/Mrs Viljosson
